STERILIZATION
Sterilization is a term referring to any physical-chemical process responsible for the destruction of microorganisms and biological agents harmful to humans.
There are different methods of sterilization, which vary depending on the circumstances and instruments to be sterilized.
In our Studio the sterilization of instruments is in 5 stages:
- instruments are placed in a tank containing liquid disinfectant for 10-15 minutes;
- then they are rinsed under running water and deprived of organic compounds by using a special brush;
- then they are placed for 5-10 minutes in dedicated equipment containing a liquid disinfectant and sterilized through the ultrasonic cleaning;
- at the end of this process, instruments are rinsed again under running water, dried and wrapped in a sterilizing paper;
- lastly, instruments are placed in a special machine (autoclave), at a temperature of 130° and a high pressure. This process takes 30 - 45 minutes.
At the end of each visit our assistants disinfect the rooms.
Anything that can not be sterilized and it is therefore considered to be disposable is disposed of.
The chair and all that is connected to it (scaler, turbines, micro motor, air water syringe) are sprayed with a disinfecting spay.
This process can vary from 10 to 15 minutes.
Special waste can be of different types:
- disposable scalpel blades
- needles used for sutures
- needles used for anesthesia
- anestesie vuote utilizzate precedentemente
- root canal instruments.

Special waste which could cause damage if put in contact with other persons after being used by the patient, are stored in special boxes. They will be thrown out according to legal procedures.
